Nothing beats Nature

these few days, the weather has been having mood swings.
one moment rain, one moment sun.

and this afternoon, the weather was throwing tantrums again.
likewise, i didn’t think much about it.

little did i know that the rain got so huge that it caused this:

anyway something to add.
the ironic thing about this whole freak of nature is the particular house that the tree fell on.
few years ago, something happened at that house and hence the owner decided to build it like the istana.
put spikes on the wall, change the gate, put CCTVs at the car porch, attempted to make the house look so protected.
and well, they succeeded in deterring any burglars or terrorists or trespassers.

but who ever expected that nature got them so easily. lol.

moral of the story? never fight nature cos u sure lose one.

everyday, unhappy events take place.
but in retrospect, most of them were actually preventable.

i’m sitting in the library right now – slacking on a friday morning.

all the power points are already occupied when i reached the library. zz.
u can see many students studying.
some really mugging hard, while some are just fb-ing on the laptops.

i missed studying.

come to think about it,
i didn’t really put in a 100% effort in my 2 years in jc and i’m looking forward to making up for that in uni.

and right now, i haven’t even started on my PI form for my melb uni application.
some irony that is.

haha. i’m gonna start soon – i tell myself (since the start of the month).

anyway, some updates on my life:

i went to fairmont hotel last weekend for my friend’s 21st. it was a penthouse suite sia.
but, i think it’s okay only. the room isn’t really very fantastic except for its toilet. there’s a jacuzzi, a SAUNA (right in the toilet) and GOLDEN TAPS.

i watched fd4 with baby and it kinda sucked.

the graphics were shit. the plot – nothing much to complain cos it’s typical fd but the least they could do was to make the show longer? (it was only like about 1 hr 20 plus mins?)

maybe if we watched it in 3d, it would be a little better.

kobe came over to our house for a short stay ytd as hoon geok went overseas.
so WELCOME BACK KOBE!

random thoughts

to survive in this competitive dog-eat-dog world of ours, we need to have either brains or looks, but of course, if u don’t possess both, u can still survive (e.g. rich manipulative people).

If you happen to have no brains,
here’s what u can do:

i) check to see if u have friends
ii) no friends? nvm. got money can also
iii) no money no friends? don’t worry, got a very supportive family behind u
iv) rebel against family? don’t worry, you can turn to religion to turn over a new leaf and start anew as a good person
v) hopefully by then, friends will come to you
vi) still no friends? just sign on to army and u’ll solve the problem u face in (ii).

if u happen to have no looks,
fret not, there’s still hope:

i) check to see if u have friends who don’t mind how u look
ii) no friends? try being funny. crack jokes and be a humorous dude. (girls love that especially it’s an open secret)
iii) neither looks nor humor? then try convincing people that u are a very nice person. in short, be nice to everybody
iii) when being nice makes u get trampled upon instead of building friendships, be an ass and go around irritate people
iv) problem solved. u have officially join the ostracized group in society. congratulations

some random thoughts i have on a saturday morning.

ytd, had some steamboat dinner in camp.
it was something like a temporary farewell to my canteen uncle and auntie as the canteen is being renovated.
from nxt week onwards, we have to walk damn far to have our tea-breaks
and worse still, i’m stuck in office with a fucker, cos all the signallers are away doing stuff.

after dinner, 4 of us nsf went over to peace centre to chill.
i got owned in daytona for like 5 straight times until i finally gave up playing it.
likewise for pool too. haha.
headed to starbucks for some frap and crap (woo. it rhymes)

ian was very nice to fetch me home. it was like close to 2am already.
YES. manage to save on cab fare.

slacking away my saturday afternoon at home atm while trying to figure out vtac.
a break from dota was good (and the fact that i got owned in the previous game made this dota-break possible).

anyway, i watching tv the other day and there was this singapore idol feature.

i saw my vs fren in the top 24 sia.

the month of june

the past 3 weeks of june was like the highlight of the year (not mentioning the batam trip which definitely tops everything else ).

i returned back to camp on 1st june and i was told that the peak period would start on 10th nov.
fantastic. 10th nov also happens to be the day i’ll see my pink ic.
honestly speaking, ns is like a wind that comes and goes almost instantly.
17 months gone, 5 months to go.
out of 17 months, 11 months were spent on healing my fracture.

so now i’m officially a clerk cos of my pes status.
and hence, i’ve lost the combat pay that i’ve been drawing for the past 8-9 months or so
well, i’ve found another avenues of earning cash though!

outings with B in b/w working days were awesome:

1. caught the 3d version of monsters vs aliens
2. watched ghosts of girlfriends past
3. outback steakhouse
4. sengkang adventure
5. hk cafe
6. marina barrage

they have brought us closer together and made me think about certain things.

on my bday, i spent the entire day with B.
thinking back now, i would still choose to spend the turning-20 moment with her
(shall blog about this in another post. soon, i hope)

actually for that week, it was my frens’ bdays too!

this CNY

This cny was rather quiet.
And it was actually quite sian too cos i broke my leg(again).
Can’t travel here and there to bai nian, and some more, i haven’t finished my new year shopping.
Damn sian.

初夕
We had our reunion dinner at home.
Just the 4 of us.
My mum wasn’t feeling well so she hit the bed rather early. My dad followed suit soon after.
I was watching channel-8 while zy was busying dotaing.
happy new year people!

初一
After 拜年 to my parents, we headed to our 外婆’s house.
My ah ma damn nice sia.
She open one can of abalone for each of us. Each can contained 2 small abalones.

That small bowl of soup was our breakfast.

Then we headed to our 二伯’s house to meet up with my paternal side’s relatives and my 奶奶.
I created quite a commotion because of my wrapped-up leg.
Nobody expected me to break my leg again especially since my vocation’s a clerk.
We just sat around eating and watching tv.
I’ve never been very close to my cousins so I just sat around the tv chatting with the adults.

Then we took a family portrait.
Man, have the kids growed up.

Baby said that my 奶奶 and 大伯 are total 100% clones of each other.
lol.

Then we went to our 大伯’s house and 二舅’s house.
The latter is also known as uncle joshua.
Chatted with jane, my vj cousin, and caught up a little bit with each other.
Then she drove me to eastpoint to get some bubble-tea.
At night, we headed back to our 二伯’s house for dinner.

eat, talk, watch tv.
Went home, then off to the bed.

The most exciting part of the day? I was driving all day

初二
Slacked at home till lunchtime.
Sean and Yonghong came over to my place. bloody long time nvr see them.
and both of them became much fitter man.
But sean seems to have shrunk abit. He became thinner.
The meet-up was cut short cos my family were rushing over to my grandma’s place for lunch.
It’ll be a long long time later when the 3 of us will meet up again as sean is already in perth for his pilot-training

After lunch, we went home.
Some guests came over.
Then we went to 大姑’s house for dinner and lou hei.
As I was handicapped, i couldn’t go around taking pictures of everybody like what i used to do.
Surprisingly, this cny i have not seen a single deck of cards or mahjong tiles at all.
It seems that recession has hit the gamblers in my family pretty hard. haha.

and fyi, the week after cny i book in to tekong for my field camp and when i came back the next weekend, my left leg was in a backslab plaster already.

初三

In the morning, i dragged baby out of bed to accompany me to CGH to check on my bloodshot eyes (which have been going on for weeks) and also to change my backslab cos it’s coming loose.

My parents dropped us at CGH and from there, baby took over the wheel. yes literally.
She drove me around in my wheelchair and she seemed to have lots of fun doing so. haha.
We waited for quite a while before we got our queue number from the nurse.
The waiting time was supposed to be approximately 2 hours so we’ve decided to go and walk about first. It beats staying in the A&E waiting area cos everyone was coughing and sneezing.

Just when she parked the wheelchair swee swee outside while we decide where to go next, we suddenly saw a familiar number flashing on the display screen.
Then we realized its ours. lol. and that took only 10 minutes?
haha. I guess mine’s a much serious and urgent case than sneezing and coughing.

The doc sounded like a noob cos he did not answer my qns directly. For example, i asked him what happen to my eyes cos they are red as tomatoes. Then he just told me “just continue putting eye drops and it will be alright.”
lol. But the eyedrops he has prescribed me are really rather useful.

Then in the afternoon, we slacked at my place.
Time flies when we are slacking and bumming around.
Soon, it was time to go to beeeee’s house for dinner. Her mum has invited me to dinner
haha.

Dinner started rather late cos her mum doing one-woman show in the kitchen.
Nobody could possibly help her cos i think we will become more of a hindrance than a help.
haha. But the dinner was worth the wait
Her mum’s culinary skills quite good sia.
But I have no pictures to prove it

haha. if only beeeee can do half as good as her. HAHA.

Anyway, i had my driving lesson just now.
And it was kinda exciting sia.
First time, i change gears change like free.
Then scare Mr Chia here and there cos i didn’t slow down at the amber light.
I just accelerated through. haha.

Meeting an officer cadet, 3rd sergeant and recruit later at PS for lunch.
Lunch at 3.30pm sia. cos they went to chiong at zouk last night.
I good boy so i never go chiong with them.
the OCT Handoko still smsed me at 6am “aye we lunch abit later ok? i go sleep now.”
haha.

then after that, i’ll be meeting hippo at suntec
She’s working at this ah bu neh neh carnival called the Zee Carnival.
got bollywood stars coming down sia.
maybe i will catch one of them and take a picture with them, then after that say, “oh shit. u are not brad pitt sia. u are Bradabunaneh Pittera.”
okay not funny.

oh ya. that reminds me.

Someone please inject me with some sense of humor because i think i am lacking it.

The past week has passed quite quickly.
It was rather memorable in a sense that i will not forget what has happened.

Life Right Now

Life right now.. I simply cant find a proper description for it.

say fun also not very fun,
but say boring and sian also not.

I like the word ‘repetitive’ but it would make me sound like a boring person. haha.
But if i come to think about it, it is repetitive indeed.
I listen to 987fm everyday. From AM Mayhem to The Serious World.
The songs at least repeat twice and that’s when i realized that actually 987 repeats its songs rather often.
Then, it’s photocopying work, facing excel and word documents, picking up calls and walking up and down.
Yes, i know my NSF life now is rather slack. in fact, it’s not rather, it’s quite.

don’t believe ah? check dictionary. see, u’ve learnt sth new
i shouldn’t be saying all these cos it may seems that i’m complaining.
Well, believe it or not, i kinda miss the life of chionging together with a bunch of guys, getting tekan, going outfield camou on and camou off together.
haha. Reminiscing about the old BMT days.

But no matter how much i miss that kind of life, i still dislike SAF. I never say hate ah.
They are quite retarded in the way they do things sometimes that i never understand why.
haha. Maybe, too much regimentation and discipline result in retardedness.
We are told to obey orders and do whatever we are ordered to.
If we ask questions about something, there are 2 scenarios:

1. They say cannot tell you cos it’s classified. Tell you and they must silence you.
2. They will shoot back you. This is an order, why question so much.

So like us fellow NSF, and perhaps some regulars who have sandwiches on their upper arms bo bian, just follow orders lor.

Actually, being a clerk or in a non-combat vocation in our NSF term is not bad.
Nono, it’s not that we can become fat and yet have super muscular fingers.
It’s just that we all can learn how to ’siam and receive arrows’.
These are skills that i believe that without practice, it’s impossible to be imparted to an individual one.
Moreover, these acquired skills are MUCH MORE much more useful than learning about jungle warfare and handling different types of rifles (that might potentially result in you getting extras if u lose them or any part of them. think about it, handling computers won’t get you any extras. oh wait. Losing the access card to the computer still does give u extras )

I think he really made sense when he said that sial.

A stay-out life is rather shiok too.
In fact, it’s the best thing of leading a clerk life.
no, it’s the best thing a NSF can think of having in his NS term.

Besides NS,
there’s the 3 Fs – Family, Fiona and Friends.
haha. don’t laugh. it’s true.

And not forgetting 1 more F. that’s fate.
It has brought me to where i am today.
