********

Alopecia areata (AA) is a condition affecting humans, in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp. Because it causes bald spots on the scalp, especially in the first stages, it is sometimes called spot baldness.

oh lucky me. do u know that this problem only affects like 0.1%-0.2% of US HUMAN BEINGS?

The condition affects 0.1%–0.2% of humans, occurring in both males and females, though far more females than males.

Alopecia areata occurs in people who are apparently healthy and have no skin disorder.Initial presentation most commonly occurs in the late teenage years, early childhood, or young adulthood, but can happen with people of all ages.

do not be afraid if u are one of those lucky ones out there (just like me!).
this is just some prank played on u by ur immune system. it just suddenly attacks ur own hair follicles, thus disrupting ur normal hair formation.

Current evidence suggests that alopecia areata is caused by an abnormality in the immune system. This particular abnormality leads to autoimmunity. As a result, the immune system attacks particular tissues of the body. In alopecia areata, for unknown reasons, the body’s own immune system attacks the hair follicles and disrupts normal hair formation. Biopsies of affected skin show immune cells inside of the hair follicles where they are not normally present. What causes this is unknown.

so if u are an optimistic person, think of it as ur immune system is so almighty and hardworking that it’s having a friendly battle with ur hair roots.

but if u are a pessimistic person, think of it as the end of the world, ur immune “traitor” system will start to attack other parts of ur body and before u know it, u are dead :D

this condition has actually been going on for like months, way before i fractured my ankle.
too bad it worsened and now from one small bald patch at the bottom of my hair, it has multiplied :(

okay the main point i’m saying this is i hope i don’t have to repeat why i got holes in my hair whenever i see someone i know.

the fight with the immune system starts now!
